Sharn's Priorities
I’m an advocate, a community leader, and a solution-driven problem solver. If elected, I will ensure that our residents not only understand how the system works but also have the tools and resources they need to actively engage with it. I’m committed to finding practical solutions to the challenges we face, empowering every resident to have a voice in shaping our future.
Together, we can build a stronger, more connected Kent.
Supporting Local Business
Local businesses are vital to Kent’s economy, and they need more support to grow and succeed. I want to ensure that Kent’s local businesses have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. I also believe in robust worker protections to ensure that those who power these businesses are treated fairly and have access to the benefits and protections they deserve. We can build a strong economy by supporting both local businesses and the workers who contribute to their success. When businesses and workers thrive together, we create a more prosperous, sustainable community for all.
If elected, I would work to create a Kent Business Coalition by partnering with local chambers of commerce and economic development organizations to provide resources, workshops, and funding opportunities. Additionally, I would strengthen local business–government partnerships to address community needs and support neighborhood beautification and development projects.
Thriving Families
And as a mom, I understand how vital it is to create spaces where families can truly thrive. That means more than just providing the basics; it’s about building strong, connected communities where everyone, from kids to seniors, has opportunities to engage, grow, and enjoy life together.
I will work to revamp and expand our parks and recreational spaces, making them places for movie nights, food truck gatherings, and events that bring people together. It’s important that every neighborhood has access to these vibrant spaces where children can play, seniors can relax, and families can create memories. By creating more opportunities for connection, we’ll build a Kent where everyone—of all ages—can flourish.
Public Safety
I am committed to making Kent a safer, more connected community where all residents feel secure. Public safety requires proactive solutions. I support efforts to hire more police officers, and if elected, I will advocate for models that build trust between law enforcement and residents.
I will focus on addressing underlying factors that contribute to crime, such as lack of economic opportunity, youth disengagement, and inadequate infrastructure. At the same time, I will work to address issues like property crimes, reckless driving, and disturbances that disrupt the safety and quality of life in our neighborhoods.
By enhancing law enforcement’s ability to respond effectively and supporting community-driven solutions, we can reduce crime and foster a safer, more resilient Kent.
Safe and Stable Communities
Through my work with youth experiencing homelessness and those in foster care, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges our community faces regarding housing and support services. Local nonprofits are already doing incredible work, and the City can do more to amplify these efforts. By working together, we can build a seamless network where residents can easily access the resources they need—whether it’s housing, mental health services, or job training programs.
If elected, I would support creating a task force with government leaders, nonprofits, businesses, and residents to address community needs like homelessness and mental health. I would also expand outreach to ensure all residents are aware of the services available to them.
Investing in these services doesn’t just support those in need—it’s a proactive strategy for public safety. By addressing the root causes of issues like homelessness and unemployment, we can reduce pressure on our justice system and prevent public safety concerns before they arise. Supporting our community is not only the right thing to do, but also the smart way to build a safer, more resilient Kent.
Climate Resilience
As a city, we have a responsibility to take action on climate change and ensure that Kent is a sustainable, green city for future generations.
I want to work with the city to expand Kent’s investment in clean energy—like rooftop solar for public buildings and affordable housing—so that all families can benefit from lower energy costs and a healthier environment.
I will prioritize protecting and expanding our city’s green spaces, parks, and tree cover — especially in neighborhoods that have historically lacked investment.
I will support initiatives that train and employ local residents — especially youth — in environmental work like restoration, clean energy, and urban agriculture.
I believe every resident should have access to sustainable options—from clean transportation to safe parks. I’ll advocate for policies that ensure no community is left behind in our climate goals.
I want to strengthen partnerships like the Green Kent Partnership and expand education programs so more residents feel invited and empowered to be part of environmental solutions.
Elevating Voices
I’m here to listen, to learn, and to elevate the voices and experiences of our residents. With a decade of experience in fostering community and civic engagement, I understand the importance of being a clear and consistent communicator. I’ll make sure every resident knows how their voice can make a difference—whether it’s through regular updates, breaking down processes, or offering guidance on how to get involved. Because with knowledge comes power—and every voice in Kent deserves to be heard.
If elected, I would work to create programs that empower residents to engage with local government, including town halls and neighborhood associations, and provide training on how to advocate for themselves. By creating these spaces for input and engagement, I would ensure that residents have a voice in shaping the policies that affect their lives.
Politics should unite us, not divide us. It should bring us together to find common ground and work towards the greater good. I’m running for Kent City Council because I believe in creating a future where every resident has the opportunity to succeed. I want Kent to be a city where families, businesses, and communities thrive together—where we support one another and build a prosperous, inclusive future. Let’s get to work, and let’s build that future together!
